Social Support

The Young Adults Disabled Association (YADA) runs a centre-based day care program every Tuesday and Thursday from 9:30am – 2pm at Bonnyrigg South Community Centre. The program is for people aged 16-85 with a mild to moderate intellectual disability and their carers living in the Liverpool and Fairfield City Council areas.

The major goals of YADA’s Social Support are to:

provide a range of activities for people with disabilities;
assisting people with disabilities to develop, maintain and support their capacity for independent living and social interaction;
reduce psychological problems such as anxiety, insecurity, depression and loneliness;
enhance the quality of life of people attending the service; and,
to provide carers of people with disabilities with some respite.
We have a range of activities at the Community Centre which include, but are not limited to:

Art and Craft lessons;
Listening to Music;
Dancing;
Playing Pool;
Playing board games or card games;
Watching television or movies; and,
Socialising with other people.
As part of Social Support, there are excursions organised every month for people with disabilities and their family and/or carers. YADA also occasionally plan holidays with some holiday destinations including Disneyland, Fiji, New Zealand, Bali, several Cruises, and a trip around Australia.

If you are interested in YADA’s Social Support program, you can contact Buffy at the office on (02) 9602 7808.

About Us

A local charity based in Liverpool, NSW that aims to provide social support for people with disabilities in the Liverpool and Fairfield local government areas. The social group meets twice a week to participate in activities that allow them to learn new skills, reduce their isolation, provide their carers with some time off, and enhance their quality of life.

Volunteering

The Young Adults Disabled Association survives off the generosity of our volunteers who devote their time and efforts to working for us. For some, it is a great way to give back to the community, and for others it is a great way to learn new skills and meet new people.
